Emotions or Presence of God?
hey friends,
was driving today to work and at the same time, listening to the Hillsongs United cd. As the worship song is being played over the stereo, i just felt in my heart that as humans, we could sometimes get mixed up between emotions and REALLY feeling the presence of God in our lives. Isn't that true? Whenever we attend service or cellgroup, are we just impressed with how the guitarist plays? or how the worship leader sings? or the beauty of the members' voice? Or are we totally and completely immersed in the Presence of God?
When we cry, is it because of overwhelming emotions? or is it because of His comforting presence that comes upon us like a cloak whenever we worship His name and vow to give Him all the glory? We got to always ensure that our motives, starting point is right in everything that we do. I pray that I would never be like King Saul, annoited by God, filled with the Holy Spirit and walking in His presence daily, BUT yet unable to let go of his old man, his fleshy carnal nature inside of him.
I aspire to be like King David, a man after God's own heart. Most of the times, things in the world always seem alluring, attractive, seductive. When you got to make an option to either go down to town and dance the night away or attend service and worship God, you got to choose there and then. June reflected in her blog that God always has a better deal! How true is that? Sometimes to us, a better deal doesn't represent a NICELY PACKAGED deal that looks good ONLY on the outside. But it WILL always represent a deal that is annoited, glorious on the inside when we open it up and accept the deal He has for us!
Everyday, we got to fight our flesh, struggle with thoughts that unknowingly seemingly just flow into our minds here and there. Sometimes we still see and witness the fall of our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. However, the BEST GIFT we can give a person we know, is through our prayers, our daily intercession for them.
"Do not be decieved, for God is not mocked. For whatever you sow, you shall also reap"
I can tell you one thing friends, God is REAL and His presence can be felt and manifested in our lives! But only if we are willing to humble ourselves, put our lives on the altar, to obey and sacrifice our time, energy and finances, then God will move. I will always remember that once my leader told me; "Obedience is better than sacrifice" God rather you obey Him and His word FIRST before we serve and serve and serve Him. Because without obedience, we CANNOT have the right heart, the right attitude to serve Him at all right? Then we will be serving Him because of our own glory, not because we love Him.
Weekends are approaching and its time to serve once again. But this time round, check your spiritual meter and ask yourself, when i serve, am i TRULY immersing in the presence of God or is it just my emotions that is leading me?
God bless you.
