Going beyond the Head.
Hi guys,
its me again..haha..sometimes i wonder to myself do ppl ever get bored bout reading my entries?..i pray not..haha..
well, just wanted to take this chance to share something i am feeling now..which is going beyond the head knowledge we have of Jesus Christ and moving into the experiential knowledge of who God is and who we are in Him...an average CHC member would be able to tell you straight off his/her fingertips whats their purpose, destiny in life, what they are called for which i feel is great! But beyond just knowing the facts, we need to do the act; we need to activate our inner calling, our inner destiny that God; the creator of Heaven and Earth has placed inside of us.
We ALL need to serve with a PURPOSE; not of duty.
Last night's choir practice was awesome; mind blowing..apart from the new song that we learnt and the various things and new arrangements that Sis Belle and Bro Mark shared, the time of worship was simply PHENOMENAL! After leaving the practice, while on my way home, i was constantly reminded that week in week out when we serve, regardless of the ministry you are in, are you serving because YOU HAVE TO? or YOU WANT TO?..
Simple question it may seem but it reflects and shows something deeper within you. People who serve because THEY HAVE TO would often be found reacting negatively when trials and circumstances come their way, when they have to choose between serving and going out for a movie with friends; and more often than not, they will get burned out real fast!
On the contary, people who serve because THEY WANT/LIKE TO would find themselve serving no matter what they are going through in life, good or bad times alike, they will continue to serve, just like soldiers fighting on the battlefield, using every ounce of their strength to load the next missile, fire the next bullet at the enemy frontline. These people will make time to serve God, re-arrange their schedules to suit so that they could serve God.
No one on this earth could ever ACTIVATE their inner calling if you do it out of DUTY.
Personally, i have to constantly remind myself and guard my heart against any form of complacency weekly when i serve because i know that head knowledge alone is not enough to bring the congregation into the presence of God; just by knowing how to sing the song is NOT ENOUGH. We as choir members, the LEVITES of our generation must be able to FIRST experience God in our own daily lives, be filled with the Holy Spirit and then when we go up to serve and sing with our hearts poured out, His presence would simply come.
Therefore, no matter which ministry you're serving in right now, as we move to SG EXPO, we need to ALL MOVE UP to another level of spirtual maturity and along with it comes a higher level of spiritual warfare. Guard your hearts against things or thoughts that you know is not right. Guard your heart daily through prayer for the effective and fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
Lets go beyond the head and into our spirit daily.
To commune and walk with Him all the days of our lives.
God bless ya!
